Professional Experience
Ben Balding’s practice encompasses a broad range of complex commercial litigation matters in federal and state courts at both the trial and appellate levels. 

He has litigated matters involving securities (internal investigations of corporations; complex class action and derivative cases; SEC-related matters), white collar defense, entertainment disputes, fraud, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the California False Claims Act, insurance, and bankruptcy.

Recent matters include:
Defense of a former CEO of a major lending company in government enforcement action and in additional civil lawsuits brought by former investors and insurance companies.



Defense of a national fast-food chain in class action arbitration proceeding arising out of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Obtaining dismissal with prejudice at the pleading stage (affirmed by the Seventh Circuit) on behalf of a domestic steel mill in fraud suit brought by investors of Thai steel mill alleging $1 billion in damages.

Representation of a whistleblower and numerous public agencies in a suit against a manufacturer of parts for public water systems.

Representation of a major television network in class action claim involving copyright infringement.
